Um...good luck with that. I hate cats. I don't remember them being much work though either - why would they keep you up all night? We had lots of pets when I was a kid, but I don't remember a cat ever bothering us that way. Now puppies, that is another matter entirely. They are noisy whiny little buggers.

We always had a cat when I was a kid. Not really by decision; more by adoption - we'd find a stray and keep it. Only ever one at a time. My dad disliked cats, complained about it all the time, and the cats adored him. Too funny.

Mark wants a pet. I don't want a weird pet (no iguanas for me!) and while we briefly looked, we weren't able to find a kangaroo rat or mouse for purchase. I'd like to have a kitten; I think they're lots of fun. The one we saw was playing like crazy - batting a ball around the cage and jumping and pouncing. The volunteer said, "She'll be like that on your head at 2:00 a.m." I'm thinking she'll be doing that to Calvin, because he's not fond of cats, either (though he doesn't hate them.)

Cats are low maintenance when they get older, which is nice.

Good luck. When I locked Miss Kitty out of my bedroom she would scratch at the door until I would throw her in the garage for the night. I was SO happy Emily finally took her to college. Now I am down to the Betta fish and happy.
