A 5 lb. rib roast, cooked medium rare.
A YUMMY mashed potato casserole (from leftover mashed potatoes). Easy and delicious.
Glazed carrots. Also easy and delicious - why haven’t I made these before?
Green bean casserole.
For dessert, cookies. Double decker butter cookies, filled with seedless raspberry preserves, and dusted with confectioners sugar. A recipe from my favorite little old lady, my Hungarian grandmother, who turned 99 years old yesterday.
One of my best efforts, and so easy I (almost) feel guilty. I spent much of the day helping The Kid work on his first Mindstorms robot. He is a happy, happy fella.
Okay, that sounds super yummy. Did I know your grandmother was still living? Did I know she was Hungarian? I don’t think I did - but that is very cool on both accounts.
I’m glad you had a happy day. Are you back to work tomorrow? Doug should be, but he’s taking it off. Makes it so much easier that way when Christmas is on a Thursday. I think we’re going to go see a flick, either Despereaux or Bedtime Stories, and let the kids play with their loot some more. And then I definitely have to get some work done around the house before the inlaws come on Monday!
I didn’t see the invite float by. Oh well, it sounds pretty good.
My office is closed today. My company has always offered either the day before or the day after off in addition to Christmas Day. This year, since Christmas fell on Thursday, they closed on Friday. Anybody who wanted Christmas Eve off needed to take PTO. Unfortunately they won’t be doing the same next week.
We are going to go buy a new washing machine today, because ours is broken. Yay shopping!
