I went to Ohio for the week last week, while The Kid and DH went to Texas with my wonderful mother-in-law. They went to Big Bend National Park in southwest Texas to collect information for my DH’s in-progress update/publication of my late father-in-law’s dissertation. I could have gone to Texas, but I only have 5.75 days of paid time off remaining for the year. I want to hang on to at least four of them for the Christmas break.
Since they were going to be gone anyway, that was a good time for me to head to the wintry north. Wintry, you ask? But Ann, it’s late May! It’s Spring! Why yes, I would agree with you if I hadn’t been there myself. Forty degree overnight temps, with highs in the low fifties in the daytime. Grrrr. I didn’t even have a jacket (because why would I need a jacket in late May?) It was finally starting to warm up about the time I left.
My parents are doing well. I watched a LOT of Law and Order, so much that I dreamed about Jack McCoy one night. I made progress on the book I’m reading, Guns, Germs and Steel. I worked pretty hard, and got a lot done. I was assigned an interesting new project.
Kinda was wonderin’ where you were at. Glad to not be worried about you, today, and to hear importantly that your parents are doing well. Yes, I’m at that age: caring about parents as much as rock and roll.
Almost as old as Elvis Deb
To paraphrase Tom Lehrer, when Elvis was my age, he’d been dead for six years.
To longevity and good music!
