I’m preoccupied by my upcoming surgery. It’s this Friday. I’m not really nervous, it’s just kind of a big thing. My family practitioner said last week that it’s kind of a big deal and he’d be surprised if I can come home the same day. The gyno asked during my last appointment if I maybe wanted a morphine pump after. (What kind of stupid question is that? Of COURSE I want a morphine pump after!)
I bet it’s going to hurt. And I’m a wimp.
My sister Heather (well you met Heather!) she has had plenty of surgeries, including a kidney transplant, and her advice is that the first word you always say the second you wake up is “MORPHINE!”
It will go well. You are strong, you are invincible (Your bladder just sags!)
it would probably be good if you could stay at least overnight. were they planning on sending you home same day ?
if they do the surgery thru a laparoscope, it is a lot less painfull and the recovery is faster.
just remember that even if it hurts - the sooner you get up and walk the faster you get better. take a small pillow to hold against your belly and cuss alot as you walk. you can even put your morphine pump on a wheeled cart and use it for a walker. the first couple of days might be rough but, after that you will get better faster. just dont rush back to work - even if it is in your den. you will probably recover from the surgery faster than you will the side effects of the anesthesia. that can leave you feeling tired and sluggish for maybe 6 weeks. be good to yourself and let the relief society bring your meals.
it may be a rough few days but, you will feel so much better with everything put back in place.
we will all be thinking of you and sending wishes for a speedy recovery.
Adding a big, “Yeah”, to what the other two really cook chicks said, already! xo
No, I do not proof before clicking to submit a comment. My brain was thinking cool chicks but my fingers typed out cook chicks. They are, after all, smokin’ hot with their girl power.
cook chicks huh? Morphine, better
I was hoping to be able to come home the same day. I really have the best bed in the entire world. No crappy hospital bed can compare.
But I’m a docile little thing, so if they want me to stay, I will.
Hi Dear!!
Yes, you most definitely need to stay overnight! And YES, morphine pump. Yea, drugs!!
I’ll be thinking about you Darling-Girl and sending those Healing-Vibes your way. Also those Really-Amazing-Dream vibes to go along with your drugs.
Love you TONS.
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo!!!
just remember you cant take the morphine pump home with you ! so stay the night just for that. you may not want dh bouncing the bed when you are hurting.(or bouncing you
let dh and little boy have a boys night out while you sleep at the hospital.
i may resemble a boiled chicken but, if you put enough honey bar b que sauce on me, i am rather cute chick!
have you stocked up on favorite movies or good reading ? this time next week you will be on the mend.
you are into the home stretch ann ! just hang in there and they will soon be giving you some of the “i dont care” medicine to put you to sleep. it is almost over. i will keep you in my thoughts tomorrow.
