I had a really mellow day off today. It wasn’t jolly or cheerful or anything, and I guess I didn’t even get much done. It’s been raining here it seems like forever, and doesn’t show much sign of stopping, which is kind of frustrating. I would like to get a peek at the sun sometime soon.
The garden has yielded a little fruit. A couple handfuls of beans, enough for two servings. They were tasty. More are growing, but I think he beans just aren’t as productive as I had hoped. I picked a tomato Sunday afternoon. It was gold on the outside, yellow when sliced. It was delicious. We have many green ones on the vines; I only hope we can get some sun so they’ll ripen up soon. I’m hungry for home grown tomatoes. Maybe the plants we bought were a mix of red and yellow tomatoes - there was a variety spike for each. Today I picked the first pepper. Many more fruits are growing, so I’m hoping for some pepper dishes soon. The peppers are also yellow.
I worked in the office last week. DH and The Kid came along, and we all stayed at the parentals. I got my mom hooked up with e-mail. Her communicating computer has a tool that reads her e-mail aloud, so I’ve tried to e-mail her a couple of times since I got home. She was very excited about the e-mail. I will probably be going back in a couple of weeks. My employers are happy to have me up as much as I can be there, and it’s easier to go in the summer, when DH isn’t teaching.
Hi Lynda! Thanks for urging me to blog. I will try to be more regular.
Work work work work work
For the first time, we put in tomatoes early enough, and have had ripe fruit for the past month. Hope yours comes along.
Love You Darling Girl!!
So good to see you’ve written.
You know me, I worry.
xoxoxoxoxoxoxo!!!
Hey, if you’re up in our neck of the woods again this summer (comparatively speaking), could we maybe get together?
SV, I’m hoping so. It depends on when I come and what the parentals need me for.
I had wondered the same thing about trying to get together. I could probably drive northeast if we time it right.
I have never tasted a yellow tomato. Do they taste the same as red ones? We grow wonderful tomatoes (red) but our garden doesn’t start coming on till late August. I bottle the beans and tomatoes, we freeze the corn and peppers and zucchini.
I get so hungry for tomatoes, I will eat two or three from the store at a time, with tons of salt and pepper. Not all that great but what can you do? Why don’t you ship me some yellow ones?
Hey, Ann, think your mom would make a blogger? She has to be around my age? I wish there were more my age.
I worry when you don’t post for a long time. Are you okay?
Hi Ann, it is the end of July now and I am just now getting bean blossums, so your fortionate to have been harvesting so early. Please blog again soon.
